Trout Fishing

The Walcha district provides some of the best fishing waters in New South Wales for a variety of fish, mainly trout.

The cool, clear running waters of the highlands provide the perfect environment for trout populations to breed and thrive and each year they attract anglers from all parts of Australia and overseas to try their luck.

The Walcha Trout Club ensures that there is always oncoming stocks of fish by carrying out annual river stocking programmes. Rainbow and Brown Trout are the main varieties.
